We are Forty8 Design Ltd

Established in 2019 by Trevor Cousins following 20 years of working for large private practices. Trevor has become a well-connected figure in the north west construction and development sector, and been involved as Project Architect for a range of high profile developments including; The TV Studios at MediaCityUK, No.1 Spinningfields Office for RBS, and master planning and development work for MUFC at their Carrington training complex, aswell as maintaining a hand in domestic work .

Forty8 Design Ltd is a Small Architectural Design practice based in Cheshire but operating throughout the UK. We pride ourselves on our commitment to provide a professional and speedy service at all times, whilst maintaining the highest quality of work.


We have a wealth of experience across many sectors including commercial, industrial, sport & leisure, residential (with particular focus on domestic extensions & new build), care homes and supported living schemes for various UK service providers.

  • Within the domestic residential market our services cover scheme design, planning advice & submissions, building regulations, surveys and preparation of CAD drawings.

PROJECTS OUR STAFF HAVE WORKED UPON

TV Studios, MediaCityUK

Designed and delivered as Project Architect whilst working for The Fairhursts Design Group.The studio building comprises 8 TV studios, MPAS Theatre and home for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. All supported by full post-production facilities, visitor centre, hotel and speculative offices.

Old Trafford, MUFC

Full audit, analysis and development proposals for Old Trafford and its environment. Commission incorporated individual concept schemes, and recommendations for

refurbishment and new build.

Media Lab

Technical Fit-Out of the Media Lab for UA92 within the former Kelloggs

Building at Old Trafford. Scheme included the acoustic design and layouts for a training TV studio, Control room and Audio room.

Garden Activities Room

Sustainable garden building for those requiring transformational care in the grounds of a Somerset Care Home. Scheme provides additional invaluable flexible accommodation and storage, for one-on-one and group-based activities.

Factory extension

Side and 1st floor extension to existing factory to create

additional storage space for materials and finished goods. Circa 500sq.m additional floor area within a restricted plot.

Private Detached House,

modernisation

General modernisation of a private dwelling in Cheshire, with front and rear extensions, incorporating enlarged bedrooms with ensuite and dressing rooms, open plan kitchen-diner, home office, and external makeover to remove

dated windows and cladding materials.


Private Terrace House, refurbishment

Internal refurbishment drawings for a period property in the suburbs of London, followed by Planning drawings for a full loft conversion and rear extension into master bedroom with ensuite and guest room.

Private Detached House,

Rear and side extension to a private dwelling and rationalization of the

dated layout. Scheme incorporated new kitchen-diner, children’s playroom, family bathroom and dedicated entrance hall, set behind modernised facades.

Scheme design for new gated Supported Living development in the Midlands, comprising 10no. 1 bed apartments with private gardens and dedicated staff office. Community based secure living providing accommodation for vulnerable adults needing transformational care and set within the context of a residential street. 

4 Story Supported Living

Scheme design for new 4 storey Supported Living development providing 21 no. 1 bed apartments,  with dedicated parking, set between 4 storey and 2 storey existing residences.
